Star Control 2 is one of the best PC games ever made. What made it so unique was the blend of genres and depth. Loads of dialogue to read with your interaction with alien species, the "choose your own adventure" style of responses you can say made the game fun and humorous. Melee combat was strategic and fast paced and basic exploration of the thousands of planets and many star systems was a fun task. This game would be a great remake for a modern console or even the PC. The above Flash animation gives you a little glimpse into a couple of the ships the game had and how they attacked.
