INOFGRAMES - E3 2002

Infogrames show space was actually quite small.  Yes, they had Neverwinter Nights there again, and this time the excitement was gone.  After seeing it back in 1999, it had now made its 3rd E3 appearance and I was wondering when we would see it already!  The game looked finished at the show, and it did look better than ever, but come on already!

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). Dungeon and Dragon's Heroes - D&D Heroes was being presented by it's senior producer Constantine Hantzopoulos.  The game was still early but some things really stood out about this X-box game.  First was the size of some of the enemies, too large to even fit entirely on the screen!  There are many magic spells in the game, 3 of which can be 'hot-keyed' for quick use.  When attacking, holding the button down longer powers up the attack, so it is a good thing to do while wandering.  The game animated really well and had a dark gothic look to it.  The level was a little dry as well as some of the effects, but I'm sure in time these things will be addressed.  The game had a little bit of a Gauntlet flavor to it.  You'll be able to chose between one of four different characters (Fighter, Wizard, Cleric & Rogue).  Looks good so far!

Neverwinter Nights - This game could easily be one of the best games of the show, but since it is so near completion and this being year 3 it has been at the show I decided to only glance at the game rather than study it.  By the time you read this it may be out.  The game was even more detailed since I had seen it last, and last year's version looked polished, so that should say something.  The cool thing about this game is creating your own levels and adventuring through it with friends.  Hopefully it will be well taken by PC gamers.  After all the time invested in developing it, it would be a shame if it wasn't explored.
