CAPCOM - E3 2002

The Capcom area was reminiscent of previous years, except pleasantly I realized the absence of their annoying 'entertainment' in previous years.  :)  A nice assortment of games, more Megaman games, and a neat arcade cabinet they are selling with Capcom MAME powered games was really cool, but kinda pricey.  Steel Battalions really stood out as innovative and a hit at the show.

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). Steel Battalions - This X-box exclusive game was unique in many ways.  Most notably was the controller that will be sold along with the game that is required to play the game.  Hopefully you have a nice sized coffee table to set it on in front of your TV!  The graphics on the game looked realistic because it imitated a television set.  The graphics were not ultra sharp, and it sort of had horizontal lines and a static look to it, but in a nice realistic way.  The game played sort of like a mech warrior game, but more simulation like than just short everything that moves.  One Capcom employee stated that the final version of the controller would be encased in metal... really cool, but I'm willing to bet that this package costs a mint.  Kudos for innovation though!

Arcade PC - Hardcore gamers have been familiar with arcade emulation for many years now, but playing them on a game pad doesn't really give you the experience you remember.  The Arcade PC, endorsee by Capcom and manufactured by HanaHo Games is like having all your favorite arcade games in one machine!  The machine comes with all the hardware and 50 Capcom ROMs.  Others can be downloaded of the internet, making this an ideal piece of hardware for gaming enthusiasts everywhere.  Very cool!

Resident Evil 0 - Capcom's incredible looking Resident Evil games have really pushed the graphical boundary with their breath taking games on the Gamecube.  These games will likely be the only reason I end up having to buy the Nintendo hardware.  Resident Evil 0 was previously being developed for the N64, but looks worlds better on the new hardware.  Apparently, this game is a prequel, with the story line happening before that of the original Resident Evil game, focusing attention of S.T.A.R.S. member 'Rebecca Chambers'.  Perhaps we'll get to see a 'Rebecca sandwich' in this game?  Looks good!
