MICROSOFT - E3 2000

Microsoft made a solid presentation at this year's E3.  In years past they usually had a couple mediocre games and a few joysticks, but this year they continued "to innovate" by showing several gaming devices, lots of games, and most important, the X-box.  The one complaint I did have was the apparent lack of demos, hardware and software for the X-box.  After all the hype there was very little shown.  Next year's E3 will be a different story I'm sure.

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). X-box - The X-box will be the biggest wildcard this industry has seen since the Sony Playstation made it's debut many years ago.  The X-box will totally destroy current systems graphical capabilities, and has the power to animate thousands of separate objects in perfect liquidity.  The biggest drawback to it is that it isn't even close to being released.  In fact, the graphics card being developed by nVidia is still in a top secret lab somewhere being researched.  Microsoft had an impressive demo to show, giving E3ers a sneak peak at the power of what the system can do.  Beyond that, audiences everywhere will have to wait to see where things with the X-box will lead.

Mech Warrior 4 - Obviously Microsoft has purchased the rights to the 'Mech Warrior' universe, as they were showing Mech 4 and a sequel to Mech Commander.  Mech 4 is a 'Street Fighter' type of sequel, in that there isn't much different here except new opponents to fight and sharper graphics.  While last years Mech 3 looked pretty good, Mech 4 looks even more realistic.  Lighting and smoke effects for missiles looked great as well as the general world look.  Gameplay looked to be about the same as previous Mech games, which by today's standards would not be groundbreaking.  Overall a solid piece of work that shows promise.

Metal Gear Solid - Yup, that's right, the awesome PSX game originally developed by Konami is coming to the PC.  Basically this is a port from the console to the PC.  I did not see anything new and the graphics looked about PSX quality, maybe a little nicer.  Regardsless, this game is fantastic and should be played, so for those of you that only use a PC for games, MGS will certainly wet your appetite for awhile.  Want to know more?  Click 'here'.
