KONAMI - E3 2000

It was a major disappoint to hear that Konami cancelled development on Castlevania for the Dreamcast system, but I was thrilled to hear that Metal Gear Solid 2 was underway.  I won't beat around the bush, Metal Gear Solid 2 was my choice for game of the show.  The game was very early in its development cycle, but they did have a 10 minute long video they showed at their booth that was absolutely incredible.  Everything in the video was in-game footage, not CGI movies.  I swear, it looked like a high budget Hollywood film, not a video game.  This game will certainly revolutionize this industry, and I can guarantee this game will be a system seller.  Metal Gear Solid 2 is currently under development for the PSX 2, and this is exactly what Sony needed to give them a boost.  Other than Metal Gear Solid 2, Konami had some other nominal looking games, and an interesting looking arcade game where you play a guitar to music, resembling the way dancing games work.  Metal Gear Solid 2 made the Konami booth go from average to killer.  I can't wait to see how this game turns out.  If there was a Metal Gear Solid 2 IPO, I would buy as many shares as I could!

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). Metal Gear Solid 2 - Easily, the best game of the show.  The reason is for several reasons.  The first thing that stands out is the awesome graphics.  This is the only game of the show that made the PSX 2 look like the powerhouse it was hyped to be.  Animations and camera angles of in the game are lifelike.  The camera shuttered with emotion when Solid Snake fired slugs into enemy swat team shields.  The Gear shown in the photo really looked like it was 10 stories high.  Everything in the game had twice the detail that needed, but you won't find anybody complaining.  While full of action, Metal Gear Solid still contains stealthy aspects.  Sneaking around undetected gives you an adrenalin rush many games lack.  The only drawback is that this game is about a year and 3 months away until a U.S. release.  From the looks of it, it will well worth the wait.  This game is leaps and bounds beyond any other game at the show.
